Trauma-informed virtual therapy for adolescents and adults in Kansas and Missouri, with Marie Clifton, LCSW, LSCSW.
Healing isn't always about finding the right words or thinking your way through an experience. Sometimes it begins by learning to listen to what your body has been communicating all along.
Rise Somatic Therapy was created from a belief that meaningful therapy honors the whole person — mind, body, emotions, relationships, and lived experiences.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and therapy should provide space to explore, understand, and reconnect with yourself without judgment.
Support for adolescents and adults navigating trauma, relationships, body image, identity, and life transitions.
Exploring the connection between your body, emotions, thoughts, and experiences.
Supporting the processing and integration of distressing traumatic experiences.
I finally feel like I understand why my body reacts the way it does — and I have tools to work with it instead of against it.

Marie Clifton, LCSW, LSCSW — founder of Rise Somatic Therapy.
Rise Somatic Therapy was shaped by both my professional experience and my own journey through experiences that challenged my sense of safety, identity, and voice. I know what it can feel like to lose connection with yourself while navigating difficult relationships, trauma, and seasons of profound change.
Those experiences deepened my understanding that healing is not simply about knowing why we feel the way we do — it can also mean learning to trust ourselves, reconnect with our bodies, and recognize the wisdom within us. As a therapist, I wanted to create a space where people feel seen, respected, and empowered to explore their experiences without judgment.
To me, Rise represents the process of reclaiming what may have been lost, reconnecting with who you are, and finding the courage to rise into a life that feels more fully your own.
To offer compassionate, trauma-informed therapy that honors each person's autonomy, identity, story, and capacity for change.
You don't have to become someone else to heal. You can reconnect with yourself, rise from within, and move forward in your own way.
